Spread Your Wings ATC’s – Helmar

Hi there everyone, today I am up on the Helmar Creative Team Blog with these Artist Trading Cards. I have to admit to you all this is the first time I have ever created ATC’s and I think I have found my addiction lol.

Helmar ATC

So let’s get started…… I used my Tim Holtz Stamp Platform to stamp onto some old paper I tore out of a book.

stamping

Next to adhere the stamped images I used Helmar Spray Adhesive on the back and placed them onto some scrap cardstock.

Next I sealed some white cardstock using clear gesso and my silicone brush. Then dried it with a heat tool.

TCW clear gesso

Now for the fun part…. building my background. For this I used the stamping technique where you stamp the Distress Oxide Inks onto your craft mat and spray with water. Then stamp your cardstock onto the inked area, making sure you dry in between colours.

Distress Oxides Antique Linen

The colours I used was Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs and Vintage Photo.

Distress Oxides Gathered Twigs

I had started stamping with Faded Jeans but the colours where turning to mud so I decided to spray a coat of Helmar Crystal Kote Fixative and now I am able to add the Faded Jeans ink perfectly.

Next I trimmed some Kraft cardstock to 2.5 x 3.5 inches and trimmed my background cardstock a little smaller. Then inked around the edges with Distress Oxides Ink Black Soot.

To adhere all my butterflies and quotes I used Helmar Premium Craft Glue. Then added some washi tape.

I needed some dimension so I used Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to adhere my 3 butterflies.

To finish off the cards I splattered with Dylusions Ink Black Marble. Here is the finished product.

Inspire Love Create Mixed Media Art Journal Page – TCW

Hi there everyone! I am back on The Crafter’s Workshop blog today with an art journal page I created whilst off on a girls weekend recently.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

For this page I used the watercolour paper in my Dina Wakley large art journal. I started off by applying a thin coat of TCW9001 White Gesso using my silicone brush.

Next I built up my background using a swiping motion of the Distress Ink pads in colours Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Cracked Pistachio and Peeled Paint. I also used the same colours on my tag but stamped the ink onto my non stick craft mat, sprayed some water and dabbed the tag onto the inks.

I used Distress Ink Peeled Paint and TCW361s Mini Tiny Circle stencil on my page and on the tag using my blending tool.

Next I used TCW780 Botanical Dream stencil and Shimmerz Texturez paste in Patina and Teal Me No Lies. I used a spatula to apply the paste.

Using TCW780 Botanical Dream stencil again and a blending tool, I applied Distress Inks Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean to add more pattern to the background. I also added some stamping using black archival ink.

For the tag, I felt it needed another colour so I added Spice Marmalade Distress ink around the edges a little on the middle of the tag. Then stamped the heart using black archival ink.

The tag needed something to sit on so I cut the burlap from the art journal and distressed the edges. I then used a paint brush to apply some TCW9001 White Gesso.

To finish off the tag, I stamped the words below and using my water pen and Distress Ink Salty Ocean, painted the letters. Then adhered them to the tag.

I stapled the tag onto the burlap using my tiny attacher and then used a liquid adhesive to adhere to the art journal page.

To finish off the page I added some doodling around the edges of the page with my paint pens.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and will be back soon xx

Treasured Memories Layout – TCW

Hello and happy Friday!!! Today is my turn up on The Crafter’s Workshop blog and I am sharing a mixed media layout I created for a very dear friend of mine.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

The papers I used for this layout is the Rosalee range by Penelope Dee. I started off layering my background with plain black and white cardstock, corrugated cardstock and patterned paper.

I used a make up sponge and TCW9001 White Gesso to lightly cover the corrugated cardstock to add a little bit of softness to the layout.

Next I stamped the background with a script stamp and black archival ink. And also stamped the stitches around the edges using Plum archival ink. Next I mixed TCW9004 Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Shakers – Autumn Maple Crimson to create a pink paste.

Before I applied the paste and adhered my patterned paper to the background, I measured where the paper will be sitting on the layout. I did this so that I knew where to stencil.

Then I applied the mixed paste to my layout using TCW781 Scrollwork stencil in the 6×6.

Next I covered my chipboard mannequin with TCW9002 Black Gesso and once the gesso was dry, I then applied Therm O Web Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive.

Once the adhesive was tacky I then rubbed on Rebehak Meier Mixed Media Transfer Foil Sheets – New Penny.

I then inked my Penelope Dee chipboard title and leaves using archival ink and painted my flowers using the same magical shaker I used for the paste.

Then I adhered all the elements to my layout using a liquid adhesive.

Thanks for dropping in

Treasured Moments – Dusty Attic

Hi there everyone, today I am sharing a mixed media layout I created using some gorgeous Dusty Attic chipboard along with the stunning Penelope Dee range Rosalee which I recently won through a competition on Instagram.

F Tailor Dusty Attic

For my background I used The Crafter’s Workhsop White Gesso and Art Alchemy Sparks paint – Butterfly Spells to add a softness around my photo. I used Distress Ink Victorian Velvet to ink around the edges of my patterned papers and also used the ink and paint to splatter.

I stamped the background using Archival Ink Plum and Penelope Dee Rosalee stamp – Vintage Rose. I only used the script sections on the stamp.

I covered the Iron Garnish 3 chipboard with white gesso then heat embossed it using Ranger Rose Gold Embossing Powder and Stampendous Aged Rose Embossing Enamel. I then cut the chipboard in half so that it would wrap around the photo.

Using the Quoted Sentiments #1 Black, I cut one of the sentiment strips in half before adhering to my layout. I also stamped onto my photo cluster using the same Penelope Dee stamp set as before but this time using black archival ink.

To finish off the layout I added one of the tags from Mini Tags #5 Black and some flowers from my stash including flowers by Penelope Dee, Green Tara and Couture Creations.  I inked some of flowers using the Sparks paint and Distress Ink.

COFFEE – Art Journal Page

Hello Everyone, it’s my turn on the The Crafter’s Workshop blog today with another mixed media art journal page. Here in Australia winter has arrived and I thought I would create a layout that was inspired by “Coffee”- which I am sure most of you would agree is essential for a cold winters day.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

To start my pages I painted TCW9002 Black Gesso with a paint brush over both pages and dried with my heat tool.

Now to build my background…. I mixed TCW9023 Blue Jellybean and TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint together and then used a brayer to apply to both my pages.

I mixed TCW9016 Spun Sugar and TCW9020 Raspberry Sorbet Heavy Body Acrylic Paint together and using the brayer again applied to my pages.

Once I was finished with the colours I then mixed a small amount of water with TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and using a small paint brush, I splattered all over the pages.

I realized afterwards I may have gotten a little carried away with the paint so now I am using a baby wipe with TCW9002 Black Gesso and just dabbing around the edges.

Now for my stencil and I absolutely love this one! I used 6×6 TCW796 Fresh Coffee and stenciled “Fresh Brewed” for the top of my art journal page and “COFFEE” for the bottom of the page. I used a make up sponge and  TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint.

Next I stamped my coffee images using Tim Holtz stamp set Fresh Brewed Blueprint onto some white card and then used Distress Crayons to colour them.

I used one of the stars from  TCW796 Fresh Coffee and my Distress Crayon to add to my ice coffee image.

To finish the pages I adhere all my coffee images using a liquid adhesive. I also added some shading using Black Soot Distress Crayon around the coffee cups.

Thanks for dropping and I look forward in sharing my next project with you soon xx

A Little Broken – Art Journal Page for Helmar

Hi fellow crafters! Today I am up on the Helmar Creative blog with this art journal page.

FTailor Art Journal Page

To start off my page, I sprayed the following Dylusions Ink Sprays Polished Jade, London Blue and Calypso Teal. Then used a paper towel to mop off any access.

Dylusions Sprays

Next I sprayed Dylusions Ink Spray Slate Grey onto my The Crafter’s Workshop stencil, TCW427s Mini Quartrefoil Revd.

TCW stencil

Once the sprays were dry, I then stamped randomly onto my page using Dyan Reavely’s Basically Square stamp and stencil set and black archival ink. I also used my Dylusions Acrylic Block around the edges and created the white dots with a white Uni Posca paint pen.

uniposca-paint-pen.jpg

The next step was to stamp some images onto some white cardstock. I used the following Dylusions stamp sets – Passage of Time, How About Never and Flight of Fancy. Then I used some alcohol markers I bought from my local Aldi store to colour in my images.

Dylusion Stamps and alcohol markers

After fussy cutting my stamped images I then used Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue to adhere all my pieces to the art journal page. This is my “go to” adhesive as I find it is strong and quick drying.

Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue

Then to finish off the page I sprayed a coat of Helmar Crystal Kote Fixative spray. Before receiving my design team kit, I had never actually heard of this spray but oh my gosh do I love it!!!! If you are like me and love using different mediums in your art journal pages, sometimes you will find that your mediums will make your pages stick together. I was previously using a wax but it wasn’t really doing anything and I found I kept tearing my pages apart. Please do yourself a favour and get this Fixative spray. It not only seals your page so you can add more mediums over the top without ruining your hard work underneath but it also stops the pages from sticking together…. it is just amazing!!!

For my background cardstock I used Brain Freeze from the 7 Dots Studio Cotton Candy range. I used Distress Oxide Ink Ice Spruce and a script stamp by 49 and Market – Pascale’s Writings Stamp.

20180502_153918

Once I was happy with my background I then trimmed my Perforated Mesh chipboard into 2 pieces and painted with white gesso. I also painted Scroll Delight chipboard with white gesso.

I then used Prima art alchemy waxes to these chipboard pieces and adhered them to my background.
