Happiness – Altered Reverse Canvas

Hi there my creative friends, today I am sharing my mood board challenge project for Dusty Attic. For this challenge, I decided to use the blue/grey tones as my inspiration along with the picture of flowers.

I started with covering my whole canvas with white gesso, then mixed Prima Texture Powder with white gesso to create a texture paste. I used the Brick Wall Stencil all around the sides of the reversed canvas. Once the paste was dry I then painted over the top with Paperartsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint in Inky Pool. I then dry brushed Stamperia Home Deco Paint in Warm White over the bricks.

I added another stencil from my stash to the back of the canvas and used the blue texture paste from Prima Old Walls set. For the Ornate Circle Frames Small I painted with white gesso and used White Gold Art Alchemy Wax all over to give an aged effect.

I painted the Mystic Flourish with Stamperia’s Home Deco Chalk Paint in Smoke grey and adhered them so they overlapped behind the dragonfly. I added some blue glitter to the back of my art pebbles and then painted the tops with the smoke grey paint.

I used Dusty Attic’s Crackle Varnish for on the Industrial Dragonfly and painted it with Paperartsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint in Inky Pool. To finish off the canvas I added some art stones, Sisal and adhered the Happiness from Wordpl@y #2 Black.

Steampunk ATC’s

Hi there my lovelies!!! Today I am up on the Art Anthology blog and I am sharing with you my steampunk Artist Trading cards using there Colorations Color Sprays.

Steampunk ATC's

For those who aren’t aware Artist Trading Cards (ATC’s) are trading cards you create with a theme and swap them with others every month. I find these cards are a great way to get the creative juices flowing so here is how I created mine.

  1. I cut my card stock at 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches and used Darkroom Door’s Measuring Tape stamp with black archival ink. I used Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide Ink pad for the background and sealed it using a fixative spray.

2. Next I sprayed Colorations Color Spray in Sandcastle all over the cards and used my heat gun to dry.

3. Then I sprayed Colorations Spray Siesta Key and again dried with a heat gun. Once the cards were dry, I then sprayed with Colorations Spray Indigo.

4. Then I sprayed my craft mat with water to reactive the left over sprays from my cards and smooshed the cards over the sprays….no wasting lol.

5. I then added some washi tape to the cards and stamped my steampunk stamps onto cardstock and cut them out and adhered everything including the sentiments to the cards.

And just like that you have a set of ATC’s to swap.

This is the list of products that I used:

Colorations: Sandcastle, Siesta Key, Indigo

Stamps: Darkroom Door Measuring Tape Background Stamp and Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Noble Gent

Tim Holtz stickers and Distress Oxide Ink Spiced Marmalade

Thanks for dropping and can’t wait to share my next project with you all soon xx

Altered Notebook

Hi there my lovelies!!!! I back again to share another DT project Art Anthology and today I am sharing my altered notebook. If you would like to watch me create this please click on the video at the end of the blog xx

  1. To start I covered my notebook with tissue paper and then covered with black gesso. I also applied a coat of black gesso to my chipboard pieces and resin.

2. Once everything was adhered, I then used the dry brushing technique using Cotton Velvet Dimensional Paint all over.

3. After drying I then sprays Patience Colorations Spray all over. Then dry brushed Boysenberry Velvet Dimensional Paint to the chipboard and resin pieces.

4. Then after a quick dry, I applied Teal Shine Dimensional Paint. Once I was happy with the blend of colours, I then used a gold mousse to highlight all over the notebook.

5. I added some glass glitter and then applied Fiji Velvet Dimensional Paint. I found that the notebook needed a little more “pop” and once I added this, I was happy.

This is the list of products that I used:

Velvet: Fiji, Cotton, Boysenberry

Colorations: Patience

Shine: Teal

Thanks for dropping and can’t wait to share my next project with you all soon xx

Sweet Memories Photo Frame for Dusty Attic

Hello there everyone!!! Today I am sharing my first project for the month for Dusty Attic. Here in Australia we have just begun spring and I wanted to create something that shows that celebrates that.

Sweet Memories Altered Frame by Farrel Tailor

The frame I used is a MDF Kaisercraft frame. I coated the frame and all chipboard pieces with white gesso. Next I stenciled all the way around the frame using modeling paste and Mandala stencil. Once all dry, I then used Jade Impasto paint to cover the frame and then with my finger applied Nuvo Embellishment Mousse to highlight the stencil.

I also used the a gold Nuvo Embellishment Mousse to colour the chipboard title. For the flourish chipboard, I left the bottom layer white and heat embossing the top layer with gold embossing powder. I adhered the layers together and then cut in the middle to make 2 pieces.

Then I arranged the chipboard and flowers to the bottom of my frame. I used micro beads and some fibres to add some texture then added a highlight with the Nuvo Embellishment Mousse on the flowers.
