This month I focused my attention to the colours of the mood board and the flowers. This is what I created…

Create Canvas by Farrel Tailor

I stenciled the background of the canvas with Ranger Crackle Medium and a stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop TCW833 Fantastical . Then I used Purple and Blue Chalk Spray by 13Arts. I also added a little bit of stamping to the stenciled area.

I covered all the chipboard with TCW9001 white gesso and then cut both frames in half. Once all adhere to the canvas, I used Ken Oliver colour burst powders on the chipboard as well as the 13ARts sprays.

I painted the back of the light globe with Art Alchemy Opal Magic paint and added some fibres, art stones and micro beads to finish it off.

Let It Snow Altered Frame Dusty Attic

Hey there Everyone, today I am sharing my last 2018 project for Dusty Attic.

I really wanted to create something with the white Christmas feel unfortunately here is Australia we don’t get the joy of having snow at Christmas time. Then I remembered we visited the snow in 2 years ago and thought PERFECT!! So this is what I created.

Altered Frame - Dusty Attic Farrel Tailor

The frame I used is a floating frame from Kmart. I covered the glass with with some patterned paper and splattered it with gold and blue spray.

For the frame itself I used a stencil by The Crafter’s Workshop TCW742s and TCW9005 modeling paste. I also used Finnabair’s Stone Effect Paste. Then used paints to create the colours of wood lightly dusted with snow. The paint I used was Finnabair Dark Chocolate Impasto paint and Paper Artsy Chalk Acrylic Paints – Mermaid, Mud Splat and Inky Pool.

Altered Frame by Farrel Tailor

I used a small piece of Corrugated Cardstock and painted it with white gesso. I then sprayed my cheesecloth piece with 13 Arts Ayeeda Mist Chalk Ultramarine and Pastel Cobalt.

I used Stampendous Aged Marine Embossing Enamel on my Small String Frame chipboard. And painted my plastic foliage with white gesso.

The Deer Head chipboard I applied a light coverage of the stone effect paste and then painted it with white gesso and Chalk Ultramarine spray. I heat embossed the cosmic swirl chipboard with Range Gold Tinsel embossing powder.

To finish off the frame I added some micro beads and crystals and a sticker from Tim Holtz small talk sticker book and last but not least Sweet Memories sentiment from Wordpl@y #3 Black.

Christmas Card and Tag – The Crafter’s Workshop

Hi there my lovelies!!!! Today I am sharing with you all a mixed media Christmas card and tag I created for The Crafter’s Workshop. For those who know me, I am not a card maker but thought it might be nice for me do something a little different.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I will start my tutorial off with the card. I used a 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 inch card as the base and applied my Emboss It Dabber to TCW720 Snowflakes 6×6 stencil. Then used white embossing powder to cover the whole area and heat set with my heat gun.

Then I sprayed 13arts Ayeeda Mist Chalk light blue and Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Delphinium Turquoise spray all over the card.

Next I used a separate piece of cardstock and applied TCW9049 Tacky When Dry Gel Medium through TCW717 Ornaments 6×6 stencil. I used my heat gun to make the drying process faster then rubbed some mixed media transfer foil over the top.

I then cut out the ornaments and used foam tape to mount them onto the card. I also adhered some ribbon to the top and used a sticker for my sentiment. To finish off the card, I used Couture Creations Glitzin’ Glamour in Antique Silver.

Now for the tag, I used a precut tag in white and smooshed Distress Inks Broken China and Stormy Sky all over the tag. Then did the same again but with Distress Oxides Ink Weathered Wood.

Once the inks had dried, I then used  TCW720 Snowflakes 6×6 stencil and applied TCW9026 Champagne Gold modeling paste. I used my heat gun to dry the paste, letting it bubble a little.

I used some stamps, snowflake punches, glitter and rhinestones to add some texture. To colour the stamped image, I used the Distress Inks Stormy Sky and Weathered Wood to make a grey/green colour and applied with an aqua pen.

Thanks for dropping by and I will back again soon with my next project xx

To Travel Is To Live Layout

Hey Everyone!! Today I am sharing with you all my latest mixed media layout using some of the new Dusty Attic chipboard and lots of Helmar products. So I was given the theme of planes for my Helmar blog post and decided to scrapbook this photo of myself waiting at the airport.

Helmar and Dusty Attic Farrel Tailor

The first thing I did was create a plane from a mold I had in my stash and used Helmar Acid Free Glue. I dusted some baby powder to the mold first and then let the mold sit for about a day. If you are going to give this ad try please be aware that this glue is flexible so be gentle when you remove it from the mold.

Ftailor Helmar Glue with mold

Once it was dry, I painted the plane with TCW9002 Black Gesso and then using a brush, I applied some Art Alchemy Waxes.

For the layout I applied a thin coat of TCW9011 Gel Medium to the 49 and Market Captured Adventures patterned paper. Once it was dry I then added some sprays by 13@rts and Dylusions.

FTailor background

Next I used Travel BordersChevrons Small and To Travel Is To Live chipboard and covered with black gesso.

TCW9002 Black Gesso

Then I added 3 colours from the Prima Art Alchemy Waxes – Rose Gold, White Gold and Aged Brass. I just used my fingers to apply these waxes.

I sprayed my flowers using Dylusions Slate Grey

FTailor Little Birdie Flowers

Then added some stamping and Tissue paper to the background before adhering all my layers.

TCW9011 Gel Matte Medium

To adhere my photo to the photo mount and the other paper layers I used Helmar Acid Free Glue.

To adhere my plane, chipboard pieces and flowers to my layout I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

The Best Days – Mixed Media Layout

Today is my last DT post for Sassy Scrappers and I would just like start off by thanking Olga for asking me to join her amazing team… what started out being for only 3 months ended up lasting 9 months and I have truly enjoyed every minute of it. And I would also like to thank all the Sassy Fans that have followed me over the last 9 months xx.

So let me show you what I created and how I went about it….

main image

I started by cutting 7 strips of Glitz Design pp – Sunshine in my Soul – Stripe and adhered the 7 strips onto to Glitz Design – Sunshine in my Soul – Suns.

20171118_111139

I then used TCW9001 White Gesso using my Finnabair 1″ Silicone Brush to seal around the paper cluster. I also used my finger to lightly rub white gesso around the edges of my photo.

20171118_111337

Once dry I then started to apply my colours to the background. Using a wet paint brush I applied 13arts Ayeeda Mists – Pastel Cobalt, then Chalk Ultramarine and to finish I used Chalk Indigo. Making sure I dried between colours.

20171118_114638

20171118_115308

I then splattered all 3 colours onto my background also

20171118_115357

Next I applied 13arts Ayeeda Mist Pastel Caramel just to highlight some areas and then added some builders tape for a little bit of texture. (I bought this tape from my local hardware store)

20171118_120728

I set that a side and started on my photo mount – I used some cardboard from a packing box and ripped the first layer off. I then rubbed white gesso around the edges and using a wet brush I applied a small amount of 13arts Ayeeda Mist Chalk Indigo.

20171118_112458

20171122_132316

I then added some stickers from Pinkfresh Studio – Escape the Ordinary range and finished off with some stamping using Tim Hotlz stamps/stencil THMM104, a flair by Funky Flair Studio from the Boyz Rule range and some cotton thread in a blue and tan colour.

And there you have it – simple but lots of fun to create. Thanks for dropping by and until tomorrow – stay crafty!!! xx
