Remember Today Altered Frame – Dusty Attic

Hello Everyone, today is my turn again on the Dusty Attic blog and I am sharing an altered frame I created. I recently taught this frame for the lovely ladies up at Bruce Rock here in Western Australia.Remember Today Frame by Farrel Tailor

I used a Kaisercraft frame and applied Stamperia sand texture paste for the base. Then covered the frame and all the chipboard with The Crafter’s Workshop Black Gesso TCW9002.

I sprayed some of the chipboard with Prima Color Bloom Sprays – Fir Needles and Magic Stone. Then I rubbed Nuvo Embellishment Mouse in Powder Blue and Seaspray Green over the top.

Once all adhered I then used Art Alchemy waxes in White Gold and Green Brocade to add highlights. Then finished it off with some beads.

Let It Snow Altered Frame Dusty Attic

Hey there Everyone, today I am sharing my last 2018 project for Dusty Attic.

I really wanted to create something with the white Christmas feel unfortunately here is Australia we don’t get the joy of having snow at Christmas time. Then I remembered we visited the snow in 2 years ago and thought PERFECT!! So this is what I created.

Altered Frame - Dusty Attic Farrel Tailor

The frame I used is a floating frame from Kmart. I covered the glass with with some patterned paper and splattered it with gold and blue spray.

For the frame itself I used a stencil by The Crafter’s Workshop TCW742s and TCW9005 modeling paste. I also used Finnabair’s Stone Effect Paste. Then used paints to create the colours of wood lightly dusted with snow. The paint I used was Finnabair Dark Chocolate Impasto paint and Paper Artsy Chalk Acrylic Paints – Mermaid, Mud Splat and Inky Pool.

I used a small piece of Corrugated Cardstock and painted it with white gesso. I then sprayed my cheesecloth piece with 13 Arts Ayeeda Mist Chalk Ultramarine and Pastel Cobalt.

I used Stampendous Aged Marine Embossing Enamel on my Small String Frame chipboard. And painted my plastic foliage with white gesso.

The Deer Head chipboard I applied a light coverage of the stone effect paste and then painted it with white gesso and Chalk Ultramarine spray. I heat embossed the cosmic swirl chipboard with Range Gold Tinsel embossing powder.

To finish off the frame I added some micro beads and crystals and a sticker from Tim Holtz small talk sticker book and last but not least Sweet Memories sentiment from Wordpl@y #3 Black.

Wild & Free – Mixed Media Picture Frame

farrel-tailor-wildandfree

Today I am sharing an altered picture frame I created as my design team project for both The Crafter’s Workshop and Dusty Attic. I bought the frame from Kmart a few months ago for about $4 and it has been sitting in draw waiting for a project until now!

I have created a process video if you would like to see how I created this but be prepared it is almost 30 min long!! I did try to cut it down as much as possible without you missing out on the process.

Here are some close ups of the picture frame and if you would like to the step by step process, you can click here which will take you to the TCW blog.
