Art Journaling with Alcohol Inks and TCW Stencils

Hey there my lovelies!!! Today is my turn over on The Crafter’s Workshop’s blog and I am sharing with you all another art journal page I created using Ranger Alcohol Inks and TCW stencils. There is also a process video at the end of the blog if you wish to watch me in action.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

To begin with I painted over a page in my art journal using TCW9002 Black Gesso. The page I used was one I experimented with a while ago.

For my background I used a sheet of lightweight synthetic sheet by Darkroom Door and cut it to fit my small Dylusions art journal. I then used Alcohol Inks – Sunset Orange, Dandelion, Shell Pink, Citrus, Pool & Cool Peri by dripping some of the colour onto my sheet and adding a small amount of Blending solution. I then used a straw to blow the inks around the page.

Sometimes you will get some sticky parts where the alcohol ink hasn’t quite dried right. I used Mixed Media Transfer Foil in New Penny by Thermoweb. I just used my finger to rub over the areas.

Next I put a small amount of Alcohol Lift Off ink onto my foam blending tool and dabbed it over TCW810s Blooming Garden stencil. I used the 6×6 stencil for this, then using a clean paper towel I lightly rubbed the ink off the page.

I then added some stamping to the background and used TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium to adhere my Humming bird and sentiment stamped image to my page. Then adhered it to my art journal.

Turn Mistakes Into Beauty Art Journal

Hello my lovelies!!! Today I am up on The Crafter’s Workshop blog with another art journal creation. So grab a cuppa, sit back and relax as I take you through on how I created this page.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

To begin my page I used Distress Oxides and my round foam blending tool to create a soft background. Then I used my water spray bottle create some marks to the background.

Once dry I then used TCW803 Distress Lace in the 6×6 and blended Distress Oxide ink around the corners of my page.

For the center of the page I used TCW812 Coronet Wreath stencil and Distress Oxides Ink.

For the next step I had orginally used a stamp around the corners but didn’t like it so I used TCW755 Modern Lace and another Distress Oxide Ink to cover it…. Hence where the title came from for my page.

Next I used a combination of Colour Blast Pastes – Royalty, Deep Water & Just Blue and applied them using a spatula to TCW816 Bird and Butterflies stencil.

I used Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks to add some colour around the birds. Then I highlighted around TCW816 Bird and Butterflies stencil with a white paint pen.

I used the scribble sticks to add colour the my heart stamped image.

I used TCW9011 Gel Medium to adhere my Dina Wakley Tissue Paper Sentiment.

To finish off I splattered the page using TCW9001 White Gesso.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and have a safe new year. I will be back with more projects in the new year

Being Creative – The Crafter’s Workshop

Hey there everyone, today I am up on The Crafter’s Workshop blog with another art journal creation.

I’m not sure about you but I find sometimes I experiment in my art journal with different mediums and techniques but don’t actually do anything with that creation, instead I move onto a new page. So I thought why not go back and find these pages and try and complete them. And this is what I came up with for today.

So my art journal pages had a mixture of Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Shakers which have been on there for about 12 months!! So I decided to add a border to break up the colour, for this I painted TCW9002 Black Gesso and dried with my heat tool.

Then I applied TCW9010 Silver Gesso using a make up sponge through TCW248s Stencil Cubist. I tried my best to keep the stencil within the border.

Next I sprayed Dylusions Spray Black Marble through TCW662s Tile Mania. I didn’t want the whole area covered so I focused on the center of the pages. I used my heat tool to dry.

I wanted to add some stamping to my pages so I used Carabelle Studio – Dutch Tulips stamp set and Versamark. Then heat embossed with white embossing powder. Then coloured the tulips using some Dylusions sprays and a paint brush.

I felt that the white embossing powder was a little bold so I toned it down using a grey toned alcohol marker. I also stamped some butterflies from the 49 and Market stamp set – Butterflies Are Free and some black embossing powder.

To finish the page I stamped Darkroom Door’s – Being Creative stamp onto some white cardstock and cut the quote into pieces. I glued this strips to the page and used a black paint pen to add a border around each piece.

I hope this has inspired you to finished those art journal pages xx

Just Be Happy Art Journal Page

Happy Thursday Everyone! Today is my turn at The Crafter’s Workshop Blog and I am sharing this page I created using photo paper, Distress Oxides and of course TCW Products. There is also a process video at the end of the blog if you wish to watch me in action.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

For this I used my large Dina Wakely art journal, I am still trying to get use to using such a large journal but who doesn’t love stepping out of their comfort zone? lol

To being I used a sheet of A4 glossy photo paper and apply my distress oxides to the paper using a rubber brayer and also using the smooshing technique.

I used my heat tool to dry between colours. Then used TCW812 Coronet Wreath with more Distress Oxides.

Now for the magical part….. I used a baby wipe to wipe away the oxides and POW!!! The end result is amazing!! The colours are vibrant

I used as make up sponge to apply TCW9002 Black Gesso to TCW749 Floating City.

I used TCW9002 Black Gesso to cover up a page in my journal that I did some experimenting on a while ago. Then for a border, I used TCW804 Mesh Blocks to add some doodling with my Uni Posca white pen.

After adhering my photo paper to the page, I then added some stamping for a title and just like that another art journal page done. Here is the video….

Thanks for dropping and I look forward to sharing my next project with you all soon xx

Witching Hour – Mixed Media Art Journal

Hey Hey!!! I’m not sure about you guys but thank goodness it’s almost the weekend!!! As you may be aware I recently taught at a scrapbooking Retreat in NSW and the theme was Halloween. So I thought why not create a Halloween theme art journal page for my TCW DT project. I also have a process video so please be sure to check it out. I have to apologise for the quality of the video…. the crafting room was a little dark.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

To begin I started by blending Distress Oxides in Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin, Fossilized Amber, Dusty Concord and Wilted Violet.

Next I used TCW381s Mini Quatrefoil stencil and using a baby wipe, I used the ghosting technique. This technique lifts the top colour off giving a ghost like effect. I also added some flicks of water and pat dried it with a towel.

Then I used a permanent black gel pen to outline parts of TCW790s Micro Bricks.

Next I stenciled TCW723s Scary Web with Distress Oxide ink Black Soot.

I felt like the page needed something else so I went back and used Distress Oxide ink Ground Espresso over TCW790s Micro Bricks.

I used my alcohol markers to colour the stamped images I used. I used Dylusions Two Heads is Better Thank One set and Visible Image stamp set Glimmer of Light. Once I cut them out I used TCW9011 Gel Medium Matte to adhere them to the pages. I also mixed a small amount of TCW9001 White Gesso with some water and splattered onto my pages.

Take Risks Art Journal Page

Hello there my lovelies!!! Today is my turn on The Crafter’s Workshop’s blog and I have created this art journal entry. I also have a process video which you can watch at the end of the blog.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I begin with building my background using Dylusions Paint in Squeezed Orange and Vibrant Turquoise and TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint. I use my rubber brayer to apply light coverage to my art journal pages.

Once dry I add some splatters using the left over paint. Then using a make up sponge I apply TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint with TCW773s Connected Dots.

Next I randomly apply Vibrant Turquoise paint with TCW764s Scrambled Numbers and dry with my heat gun.

The next layer I use TCW361s Mini Tiny Circles with Squeezed Orange paint.

And for the last layer I use TCW336s Mini Letters with Funky Fuchsia paint.

At the moment I am loving having a border on my art journal pages so here I used some washi tape around the edges and applied TCW9022 Black Gesso with a paint brush.

I stamped my sentiment and image onto some white cardstock and used a Stabilo Aquarellable Pencil for some shading. Then added splatters using TCW9016 Spun Sugar and TCW9015 Black Licorice paint which I watered down.

Thanks for dropping in

Go with your heart Art Journal Page

Hi Everyone and happy Thursday!!! Today I would like to share my newest art journal creation for The Crafter’s Workshop using alcohol inks and TCW products. I also have a process video at the end of the blog if you would like to see me in action.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I had previously applied TCW9002 Black Gesso to a page in my art journal which I used for today’s entry. I trimmed my Darkroom Door Synthetic Sheet in the lightweight so that the black gesso was a border around my sheet.

I used TCW809 Ocean Window in both the 12×12 and 6×6 and applied Alcohol Inks through the stencils using a felt blending tool. The colours I used are Pool, Lemonade, Pistachio, Current and Pink. I added some blending solution to the blending tool for the area on the 12×12 stencil.

Once it was all dry, I added some stamping using Darkroom Door stamps and black archival ink. I then applied TCW9049 Tacky When Dry Gel Medium through TCW541s Believe Script 6×6 stencil randomly around my page. I let the gel medium air dry for about 15-20 minutes.

Then I used a sheet of Decofoil in Lapis Watercolor and rubbed over the areas of the stenciled gel medium.

To finish off the page I added my butterfly stamp, sentiment stickers by Tim Holtz and adhered my finished sheet to the art journal page.

I hope you have enjoyed my post today, below is the process video.
