Hi there my creative lovelies, today I am sharing with you all my October Mood Board Challenge project for Dusty Attic. I loved doing this mood board and I used the colours as my inspiration.

Here is my altered notebook – The notebook I used is from Kmart here in Australia and I primed both the front and back cover with black gesso. I used the Brick Wall Stencil along with some Prima Texture Powder and gesso to create my own texture paste.

Altered Notebook by Farrel Tailor

I trimmed a piece from Geometric Panel and adhered it to the center of my notebook. I then used an assortment of cogs from Mini Cogs #2, Cogs #1 and Cogs #3. For the corners I used the bolts from Nuts and Bolts set.

I then adhered the Prima Melange Pebbles to the journal and painted everything in black gesso. Once it was all dry, I then used Finnabair’s Metal Effect Texture Paste to build up my colour and texture. Then to finish it off I used Dare To Dream stamp set by Finnabair for my dragonfly and the word “journal”. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Archival Ink.

I started with covering my whole canvas with white gesso, then mixed Prima Texture Powder with white gesso to create a texture paste. I used the Brick Wall Stencil all around the sides of the reversed canvas. Once the paste was dry I then painted over the top with Paperartsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint in Inky Pool. I then dry brushed Stamperia Home Deco Paint in Warm White over the bricks.

I added another stencil from my stash to the back of the canvas and used the blue texture paste from Prima Old Walls set. For the Ornate Circle Frames Small I painted with white gesso and used White Gold Art Alchemy Wax all over to give an aged effect.

I painted the Mystic Flourish with Stamperia’s Home Deco Chalk Paint in Smoke grey and adhered them so they overlapped behind the dragonfly. I added some blue glitter to the back of my art pebbles and then painted the tops with the smoke grey paint.

I used Dusty Attic’s Crackle Varnish for on the Industrial Dragonfly and painted it with Paperartsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint in Inky Pool. To finish off the canvas I added some art stones, Sisal and adhered the Happiness from Wordpl@y #2 Black.

Hey Hey my lovelies!!! Today is my turn on the Dusty Attic blog and today I  am sharing my August mood board challenge project. 44035713_10216517096341108_154288878973353984_o

For my inspiration I used the picture and the some of the colours. When I look at this picture it makes me think of travelling somewhere tropical so my tag is just that….. travelling and discovering.

Discover Mixed Media Tag by Farrel Tailor

I covered the 2 tags with Tim Holtz Postale tissue wrap and inked them with Vintage Photo Distress Archival Ink. Then applied a white crackle paste. Once dry, I then added some blue ink to highlight the crackle. I used the same ink to colour the resin stars and highlighted with some bronze wax.

I covered the Industrial Balloon and Nautical Frame chipboard with Art Anthology Rust Effect Paste. Then I adhere paper to the back of the chipboard from Stamperia – Around The World Range. I also added some of the blue ink to the paper to match the background of the tag.

I heat embossed the Diamond Panel with Stampendous Marine Embossing Enamel and trimmed to fit the tag.

I inked the Geo Tribal Arrow with Vintage Photo Archival Ink and covered with Dusty Attic Clear Crackle Varnish. I heat embossed the Roman Numerals with a bronze embossing powder. For the Discover title, I used black embossing powder and then applied a light coat of orange metallic acrylic paint.

To finish off I added art stones and micro beads.

Dusty Attic July Mood Board Challenge – Journey Layout

Wow! Can you believe we are now in JULY?!! I think this year has just flown by….. anyway new month means new mood board challenge at Dusty Attic. So today I am sharing my take on the challenge. I decided to create a layout using a photo of Dwayne and I on the cruise. This layout’s style is very different to my usual style but I wanted to go back to basics.

43952991_10216517094701067_5050524319076057088_o

So let’s get started…..

For the papers I have used 7 Dots Studio’s Air Mail range, which was perfect for the chippy that I used.  I also used their tags, stickers and die cuts. I inked all the edges of my paper, dies and stickers using Distress Archival ink in Vintage photo. I added some stamp stitching around the edges of my background paper using Faded Jeans Distress Archival ink.

Journey by Farrel Tailor

For the Compass Rose chipboard I applied some white gesso and then sprayed it with Distress Oxide Sprays – Cracked Pistachio, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain to give a patina type look.

Journey Layout by Farrel Tailor

The Travel Border chipboard I applied white gesso again and then using a foam blending tool applied Faded Jeans and Barn Door Distress Archival Ink.

For the Blueprint Journey chipboard I also covered with white gesso and then using Distress Archival ink pad – Spiced Marmalade I swiped the ink pad over the chipboard until it was covered. To finish the layout I splattered using Faded Jeans Distress Stain Spray.

Love Always Layout – Dusty Attic Mood Board Challenge

Hello! Hello! Hello! I am back to share with you all my interpretation of this month’s  Dusty Attic mood board.

43952320_10216517091340983_6086288929848295424_o

I will not lie, I found the colours of this mood board quite hard as purple (any shade of it) is a hard colour for me to work with but I love pushing the boundaries and ended up having a lot of fun creating this layout.

Love Always Dusty Attic

For the patterned paper I used 7 Dots Garden Party – the colours matched the mood board perfectly. Along with flowers by Little Birdie and Plum Preserve Metallique Acrylic Paint by Finnabair.

Dusty Attic April Mood Board

The sketch grid stencil I used in the background is by The Crafter’s Workshop and I used Paper Texture Paste by Finnabair. I also added some art stones and beads to the flowers.

Love Always by Farrel Tailor

I covered the Geometric Panel pieces in black gesso and used Art Alchemy Waxes. For the Clockworks chipboard, I covered in white gesso and used the waxes and some archival inks and finally for the title I used archival ink on word “Always” after I painted the words in white gesso.
