Altered Guitar – Snip Art

Hello there crafty peeps!!! Today I wanted to share my latest project for Snip Art. (click here to go to the blog for more details) I was given the task of hosting this month’s mood board which is pretty cool. So I created the below mood board with a project in mind.

6th - 31st June 2020

I have wanted to create something using Snip Art’s MDF guitar and finally I got to do it. The guitar is quite long so I made the tag from packing boxes.

Guitar Tag by Farrel Tailor

I used several mixed media products including crackle medium, acrylic paint, rice paper and moulds to get the effect I finished with.

Dusty Attic October Mood Board Challenge – Altered Notebook

Hi there my creative lovelies, today I am sharing with you all my October Mood Board Challenge project for Dusty Attic. I loved doing this mood board and I used the colours as my inspiration.

Here is my altered notebook – The notebook I used is from Kmart here in Australia and I primed both the front and back cover with black gesso. I used the Brick Wall Stencil along with some Prima Texture Powder and gesso to create my own texture paste.

Altered Notebook by Farrel Tailor

I trimmed a piece from Geometric Panel and adhered it to the center of my notebook. I then used an assortment of cogs from Mini Cogs #2, Cogs #1 and Cogs #3. For the corners I used the bolts from Nuts and Bolts set.

Altered Notebook Dusty Attic

I then adhered the Prima Melange Pebbles to the journal and painted everything in black gesso. Once it was all dry, I then used Finnabair’s Metal Effect Texture Paste to build up my colour and texture. Then to finish it off I used Dare To Dream stamp set by Finnabair for my dragonfly and the word “journal”. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Archival Ink.

Hello fellow Dusty Attic lovers!!! I am back today to share with you my interpretation of this month’s mood board challenge and I used the colours for my inspiration.

26167721_10214205906842815_2474413129191268015_nDusty Attic July Challenge - Farrel Tailor

I used 7 Dots Studio Chestnuts patterned paper from the Yuletide range as my base background paper. I added some white gesso and Dylusions Calypso Teal spray to the background and then used Stampers Anonymous stamp sets – Ultimate Grunge and Reflections.

da-chains-ftailor.jpg

I left the chicken wire chipboard raw and cut into 3 sections. I also left 3 of the Industrial Chains raw. For the other 3 chains I painted with white gesso and then used Art Alchemy Waxes in White Gold, Brushed Iron, Aged Brass & Rich Copper.

DA industrial stars

I also painted the Mini Cogs, Industrial Stars, Ship Wheels and my words from Word Pack #2 with white gesso. The stars & cogs I used Dylusions Calypso Teal and brushed some black ink over the top.

For the title I used Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks in Ruby over the top of the gesso. I also used the Art Alchemy Waxes on the Ship Wheels chipboard.

Altered Globe

Hi Everyone!!! Today I am up on the The Crafter’s Workshop Blog and I am sharing with you all an altered globe I created for a class I taught on a crafting cruise last month.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

So let me share with you on how I created this. I started by painting the countries on the globe using TCW9029 Copper Penny Modeling Paste. I wanted to add a little bit of texture so I dabbed with my paint brush in some areas. The globe I bought from Kmart for $7.

Next I painted TCW9002 Black Gesso for the ocean areas and let dry.

In the meantime, I painted my chipboard pieces and flowers with TCW9002 Black Gesso and dried using my heat tool.

I put a small amount of TCW9013 Iridescent Gold Heavy Body Paint onto my craft mat and spray with some water to make the make a little runny and then splattered onto my globe using a paint brush.

I also painted the butterflies using the TCW9013 Iridescent Gold Heavy Body Paint

Next I rubbed some art alchemy waxed over the flowers and chipboard pieces using a small paint brush and my finger.

The last step before adhering all the flowers and chipboard was to stencil onto the mini hot air balloon chipboard pieces. I used TCW771 Two Hearts 6×6 stencil and TCW9029 Copper Penny Modeling paste. I only used the mesh like pattern on this stencil. Once it was all my pieces were dry, I then adhered them to the globe using a strong liquid glue.

Thanks for dropping by and can’t wait to share with you all my next project soon

Altered Cigar Box – Dusty Attic

Hi there everyone! Today I am sharing an altered cigar box I created for a class I taught on a crafting cruise last month using lots of Dusty Attic chippy!!

Farrel Tailor Cigar Box

For the cigar box I used a stencil by The Crafter’s Workshop and Prima Graphite Texture Paste. Then I covered all the chipboard pieces including the cigar box with black gesso.

DA Cigar Box

I cut the Pipework small chipboard into several pieces and adhered them onto the top of the box. I also cut the mini chains in half and adhered them along with the industrial globes and tiny cogs.

FTailor DA cigar box

I adhered the wings and “create” to the industrial heart, then I used Art Alchemy waxes to add the metallic finishes to the box and the chipboard pieces. To finish it off added some metal brads.

Perfect Moments – Mixed Media Layout

Hello there my crafty followers!!! Today I have a layout I have created for The Crafter’s Workshop and Dusty Attic using some awesome new products.

Farrel-tailor-perfect-moments

Please excuse the quality of some of the photos as I was away on a crafty weekend and the lighting wasn’t the best.

TCW9001 Matte gel medium

To start off with my layout I lightly apply TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium to seal my page. I have used 7 Dots Studio range – Writer’s Block. I tend to do this with all my layouts as 9 times out 10 I have no idea where my layouts will take me and it is better to be prepared.

TCW9001 white gesso

Next I use my silicone brush to add strokes of TCW9001 White Gesso to the area that my photo will go. I have used short strokes rather than long ones – I think it gives more of a grunge look.

TCW9033 Marcasite Silver Modeling Paste

Once the gesso is dry I then use TCW790s Micro Bricks stencil and TCW9033 Marcasite Silver Modeling Paste. I have to say this is my new favourite modeling paste!!! It is just amazing – really creamy and the colour is stunning.

TCW790s Micro Bricks Stencil and white gesso

Next I tear up some Corrugated cardstock and using my finger, I lightly rub some TCW9001 White Gesso and adhere to my layout. I decided for this layout that I would use raw chipboard. Here I have used Industrial Globes and Mini Chains – 10pk.

TCW9027 Grecian Gold Modeling Paste

To finish off the background I used TCW9027 Grecian Gold Modeling Paste and watered it down so that I could splatter it. I also did the same using TCW9011 White Gesso.

20180301_133446

Next I created my photo mount using more papers by 7 Dots Studio – Writer’s Block and also added the following chipboard Clockworks Small, Mini Tabs #4 and Industrial Corners.
