Embrace The Inner Queen Canvas – Dusty Attic

Hi there my lovelies!!!!

Recently I was shown the world of Powertex. ( A textile hardener) And straight away I loved it and thought I would share my very first project using Powertex and Dusty Attic. I would just like to add that I barely broke the surface in learning about this form of mixed media but hey we all have to start somewhere!!!

Embrace your inner queen by Farrel Tailor

I used LOTS of different mixed media projects to create this canvas including Finnabair Texture Paste (Metal Effect & Patina Effect), Finnabair Impasto Paint, Metallique Acrylic Paint, The Crafter’s Workshop stencils, Finnabair Art Stones and Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Squirts just to name a few.

The flowers I used are a mixture of Prima, Green Tara Flowers and some fabric ones I got years ago. I just love how this medium makes everything hard and this helps give texture.

Mixed Media Gift Box – The Crafter’s Workshop

Hello there my wonderful followers!!! Today is my turn up on The Crafter’s Workshop blog.

With Mother’s Day only a few days away, I wanted to create a small gift box using some of TCW’s amazing products. There is also a video which will be at the end of the blog so please feel free to check it out xx

To start off I covered the whole small box with TCW9002 Black Gesso, then used my heat tool to dry.

Then I used TCW9004 Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste and TCW853s Circle Tile stencil and stenciled over the entire lid of the box. I used my heat gun to dry the paste and I LOVE how this paste puffs up when heated. It reminds of clouds.

Next I used a strong mixed media glue to adhere the resin moulds I made and also added some art stones for extra texture. Then I covered the box again with TCW9002 Black Gesso.

Once dry I then used some Art Alchemy Waxes to add the colouring to the box. To finish it off I used some Glass Glitter around the frame and face.

Thanks for popping in and I hope I have inspired you to create your own little gift box. I will be back real soon with another project xx

Believe In Daydreams Mixed Media Tag

Hi Everyone Farrel here and today I am sharing another mixed media tag with you all. I have process shot so sit back and relax while to take you through on how I created this.

mixed media tag by farrel tailor

I had so much fun creating this tag, I have only recently discovered my new found love when I created the Christmas Tag last month and I have decided to create tags for everything now!!! lol

TCW809.jpg

To start of I used the Tim Holtz large Tag Die cut out my chipboard tag. I then covered the tag using some patterned paper I found in my stash. I applied a light coverage of Gel Matte Medium (TCW) and once dried I then used TCW804 Mesh Blocks stencil with some sand texture paste.

Once the paste was dry, I then added some stamping using Black Archival Ink and a Finnabair stamp.

Then I used the 3 LSG magicals in the picture to build up my background colours. I love how the sand texture paste looks with these colours added to it.

Next I coated my Dusty Attic chipboard and a metal flower with white gesso. I did cut the Industrial Corner and the Cyclone Wire to fit the tag.

I then decided to use Finnabair’s Rust Effect Paste on the chipboard pieces and the metal flower. I also used Sepia Archival Ink to cover the ticket chipboard.

I used TCW Iridescent Gold Heavy Body Acrylic Paint on the Prima Flowers and once all the pieces were adhered, I then added some Sisal, Mica Flakes and some beads.

Happy Notes – Altered Notebook for Dusty Attic

Hey Everyone! Over at Dusty Attic we are doing Notebook November so today I am sharing my notebook using the November mood board as inspiration.

26056134_10214205909162873_7431268592972952500_n

For my notebook, I used the purple tones for my inspiration…. this was way out of my comfort zone as I very rarely use purples but I have to say I really enjoyed creating this. So here is my notebook…… oh and I forgot to mention there is a process video at the end of the blog if you would like to see how I created it.

Farrel Tailor Altered Notebook

I started off by painting my notebook and chippy pieces with black gesso. Then started to build all the layers and texture with stenciling, chipboard, Prima Melange Art Pebbles and art stones.

Farrel Tailor Notebook Dusty Attic

I used Prima Metallique Plum Preserves Acrylic Paint as a base coat and then used several Art Alchemy Waxes to add different tones. For the butterfly I used Prima Sparks Acrylic Paint in Butterfly Spells and Mermaid Sparkle. Then added some glitter glue for an added sparkle.

To finish off the notebook I added some micro beads in the copper but felt the colour was too strong so I toned them down with some black gesso. (I did this after I filmed)
