Fright Night Halloween Layout

Hello everyone!!! Today I am up on the Dusty Attic Blog another Halloween project but this time it’s a layout. I had so much fun creating this layout, it was nice do something a little spooky!!!

Fright Night Halloween layout

For the base cardstock I have used one of the sheets from 49 and Market Rusty Autumn Collection. This purple was perfect for what I wanted to do. I stamped the cracks stamp with black archival ink and added some Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint in Metallique Fresh Orange.

I added white gesso around the edges of the photo and my chipboard pieces – Web Flourish and the small web from Spiders and Web set and adhered them to the layout.

Dusty Attic Fright Night layout

I applied black gesso to the smaller skeleton from the Skeletons pack and then lightly rubbed some Art Alchemy wax in the Brushed Iron. I also used this wax on the Web Flourish.

For the Page Pebbles #14 and Wordpl@y #6 I lightly painted the Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint in Metallique Fresh Orange and then covered the chipboard with black archival ink making sure I used a swiping motion so that the ink didn’t go into the grooves of the chipboard.

Spider close up Halloween layout

For my Redback Spider  I used the smaller spider from the Spiders set. I painted it with black gesso and used a red acrylic paint for the red line.  I also did the same for the smaller spider up on the top left hand corner using Spiders and Web set.

Dusty Attic Fright Night skeleton

For the chain I painted with black gesso and then applied Art Alchemy Waxes in Rich Copper, Bronze Age and Aged Brass. To finish off the layout I also added some stamping around the edges of the patterned paper using Kaisercraft Film Edges clear stamp set.

Altered Frame – Dusty Attic

Hey Hey my mixed media followers!!!

Today I am up on the Dusty Attic blog with this  mixed media altered frame. I created this frame to demo at the Dusty Attic Retreat last month and I had so much fun creating it.

I have had such an overwhelming response to the frame that I am teaching it here in Perth next month and also at another retreat in October in NSW so I won’t be able to giveaway too many details.

Farrel Tailor Dusty Attic altered frame

The frame I used is a shadow box photo frame and I used Dusty Attic Texture Paste along with Prima Rust Effect Paste and some Prima Sprays.

The centre of the frame I used some chipboard pieces, Jumbo Cogs, Monarch Butterflies, Mini Number Grid, embossing powder, Dusty Attic Rusting Powder and some inks.

Memories Made Mixed Media Layout

Hello Everyone!!! Today I am sharing a layout I created for The Crafter’s Workshop and Dusty Attic.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I started by sealing my 12×12 watercolor cardstock with TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium using my 2″ silicone brush and applying TCW9001 White Gesso to the edges of my photo. Once the edges were dry I then used Therm O Web Rebekah Meier Designs Mixed Media Foam Sheets to add dimension to the back of my photo.

Next I used TCW541s Mini Believe Script stencil and TCW9008 Clear Modeling Paste in 3 sections of the cardstock.

Once I dried the stenciled area with my heat tool, I then applied some magical shakers to the background staying in the stenciled area.

Next I used TCW454s Mini Specimens stencil and Distress Oxide ink pad – Black Soot. But because of the all the texture on the cardstock, I decided to change to TCW9015 Black Licorice Heavy Body Acrylic Paint.

For the next step I used TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and TCW456s Mini Sketch Grid. I used a make up sponge to apply the paint to the layout.

Now for the chipboard, I used a swiping motion to apply TCW9001 White Gesso. I used this method because I didn’t want the gesso to go into the grooves of the chipboard. Then I used Magical Shakers – Guten Tag Teal to add color to the chipboard using a paint brush.

For the Geometric Panel chipboard, I painted them with TCW90015 Black Licorice Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and used my heat tool to dry.

And to finish off the layout, I adhered all my pieces using Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue.

Scrap The Girls Guest Designer for September Challenge

Today I am super excited to be sharing a layout that I created for Scrap The Girls (click here to see what the other amazing DT girls have created).

As you all know I have 3 boys so I don’t get to create using girly colours often so I was super chuffed when I was asked to be a guest designer for this month. Below is the sketch we had to get our inspiration from.

And this is what I created. I used Distress Oxides in Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Black Soot and Twisted Citron for my background.

20170815_095421

The stamps I used are by Kaisercraft – Chicken Wire, Triangles, Boutique, Stitched Circles and Postmarks. I used Archival Ink – Watering Can to stamp the background.

The chipboard used is by Dusty Attic – Paris Post Mark, Postage Stamp and Word Pack #35.
