Art Journal – Make Each Day Your Masterpiece

Hey there my crafty followers!!! Today I am up on the Helmar blog with this art journal page.

To create the background I applied some acrylic paint to some canvas paper

Next I stamped 49 and Market Going In Circles Stamp with Versafine. This is a small stamp so used it a few times till the cardstock was covered.

I then sealed the cardstock with Helmar Crystal Kote Fixative Spray. I am an impatient scrapper so I used my heat gun to make sure the fixative was dry but you could set it a side for a few minutes.

I then applied my Distress Oxide directly onto my page and sprayed with water until I was happy with the effect. Then dried it with my heat gun.

To adhere my page to my art journal, I used Helmar Spray Adhesive. I always use a scrap piece of paper under the piece I am spraying, this just protects my work surface. I left the sprayed cardstock for about 2 minutes and then placed it in my art journal.

I stamped the paint splatters using Darkroom Door Paint Splats stamp set and then choose a few of the splats to add Helmar Tacky Craft Glue. Then sprinkled the glitter on top.

I also used Darkroom Door’s Artist’s Palette stamp set for the paint, brushes and the sentiment. I used watercolour paints to add colour and then adhered them using Helmar Acid Free Glue.

For my background I adhered some paper from an old dictionary and covered using TCW9007 Clear Gesso. Then I used my fingers to apply the following paints – Funky Fuchsia and White Linen Dylusions Paints, JBurrows Acrylic Paints – Magenta, Light Blue, Bright Aqua Green, Fluro Orange, Fluro Pink, Fluro Orange and Fluro Purple.

To finish off the background I added some stenciling using stencils by The Crafter’s Workshop. First I used TCW202s 6×6 Mini Harlequin with Dylusions Paint – White Linen. Then I applied Dylusions Paint – Black Marble and a Fluro Yellow acrylic paint through TCW754s 6×6 Distressed Details stencil.

Now for my Dusty Attic chipboard – I lightly covered the Paint Brushes #2 and Mason Jars chipboard with TCW9001 White Gesso and then used some Distress Crayons to colour. The crayons I used were – Broken China, Brushed Corduroy, Chipped Sapphire, Candied Apple, Black Soot, Lucky Clover, Wild Honey, Mowed Lawn, Spiced Marmalade and Ripe Persimmon. And I used my finger to blend the crayons.

For the lid of the mason jar I used Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint – Silver spoon and Dusty Attic Clear Gloss Varnish. You will also notice I have cut the paint brushes and adhered them to the Mason Jar.
