Art Journal – Make Each Day Your Masterpiece

Hey there my crafty followers!!! Today I am up on the Helmar blog with this art journal page.

FTailor Helmar Adhesive

To create the background I applied some acrylic paint to some canvas paper

Next I stamped 49 and Market Going In Circles Stamp with Versafine. This is a small stamp so used it a few times till the cardstock was covered.

I then sealed the cardstock with Helmar Crystal Kote Fixative Spray. I am an impatient scrapper so I used my heat gun to make sure the fixative was dry but you could set it a side for a few minutes.

I then applied my Distress Oxide directly onto my page and sprayed with water until I was happy with the effect. Then dried it with my heat gun.

To adhere my page to my art journal, I used Helmar Spray Adhesive. I always use a scrap piece of paper under the piece I am spraying, this just protects my work surface. I left the sprayed cardstock for about 2 minutes and then placed it in my art journal.

I stamped the paint splatters using Darkroom Door Paint Splats stamp set and then choose a few of the splats to add Helmar Tacky Craft Glue. Then sprinkled the glitter on top.

I also used Darkroom Door’s Artist’s Palette stamp set for the paint, brushes and the sentiment. I used watercolour paints to add colour and then adhered them using Helmar Acid Free Glue.

To Travel Is To Live Layout

Hey Everyone!! Today I am sharing with you all my latest mixed media layout using some of the new Dusty Attic chipboard and lots of Helmar products. So I was given the theme of planes for my Helmar blog post and decided to scrapbook this photo of myself waiting at the airport.

Helmar and Dusty Attic Farrel Tailor

The first thing I did was create a plane from a mold I had in my stash and used Helmar Acid Free Glue. I dusted some baby powder to the mold first and then let the mold sit for about a day. If you are going to give this ad try please be aware that this glue is flexible so be gentle when you remove it from the mold.

Once it was dry, I painted the plane with TCW9002 Black Gesso and then using a brush, I applied some Art Alchemy Waxes.

For the layout I applied a thin coat of TCW9011 Gel Medium to the 49 and Market Captured Adventures patterned paper. Once it was dry I then added some sprays by 13@rts and Dylusions.

Next I used Travel BordersChevrons Small and To Travel Is To Live chipboard and covered with black gesso.

Then I added 3 colours from the Prima Art Alchemy Waxes – Rose Gold, White Gold and Aged Brass. I just used my fingers to apply these waxes.

I sprayed my flowers using Dylusions Slate Grey

Then added some stamping and Tissue paper to the background before adhering all my layers.

To adhere my photo to the photo mount and the other paper layers I used Helmar Acid Free Glue.

To adhere my plane, chipboard pieces and flowers to my layout I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.

A Little Broken – Art Journal Page for Helmar

Hi fellow crafters! Today I am up on the Helmar Creative blog with this art journal page.

FTailor Art Journal Page

To start off my page, I sprayed the following Dylusions Ink Sprays Polished Jade, London Blue and Calypso Teal. Then used a paper towel to mop off any access.

Dylusions Sprays

Next I sprayed Dylusions Ink Spray Slate Grey onto my The Crafter’s Workshop stencil, TCW427s Mini Quartrefoil Revd.

Once the sprays were dry, I then stamped randomly onto my page using Dyan Reavely’s Basically Square stamp and stencil set and black archival ink. I also used my Dylusions Acrylic Block around the edges and created the white dots with a white Uni Posca paint pen.

The next step was to stamp some images onto some white cardstock. I used the following Dylusions stamp sets – Passage of Time, How About Never and Flight of Fancy. Then I used some alcohol markers I bought from my local Aldi store to colour in my images.

Dylusion Stamps and alcohol markers

After fussy cutting my stamped images I then used Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue to adhere all my pieces to the art journal page. This is my “go to” adhesive as I find it is strong and quick drying.

Then to finish off the page I sprayed a coat of Helmar Crystal Kote Fixative spray. Before receiving my design team kit, I had never actually heard of this spray but oh my gosh do I love it!!!! If you are like me and love using different mediums in your art journal pages, sometimes you will find that your mediums will make your pages stick together. I was previously using a wax but it wasn’t really doing anything and I found I kept tearing my pages apart. Please do yourself a favour and get this Fixative spray. It not only seals your page so you can add more mediums over the top without ruining your hard work underneath but it also stops the pages from sticking together…. it is just amazing!!!
