Upcycled Mixed Media Tins

Hello there my lovelies!! Today I am up on The Crafter’s Workshop blog and I decided to something a little bright and fun and useful at the same time. So I decided to give a coffee container and a Pringles tin a face lift. I also have a video at the end of the blog so please feel free to watch it all happen before your very eyes.

To begin my projects, I applied 2 coats of TCW9001 White Gesso with a paint brush. I dried between coats with my heat tool.

Next I applied a range of acrylic paints to the 2 containers and used my heat tool to dry

For the small coffee container I used TCW827 Spring Medallion in the 6×6 and applied TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint with a make up sponge.

For the tall tin I used TCW810 Blooming Garden stencil in the 6×6 along with TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and again used a make up sponge. To finish it off, I used a purple and pink coloured acrylic paint to highlight some of the stencil.

Thanks for dropping and I will be back soon with another project xx

Make Art – Art Journal Page for Fineline Applicator Australia

Hello and happy Friday to you all!!! Recently I met with the lovely team from Fineline Applicator Aus and I fell in love with their applicators. So today I am sharing an art journal page.

I had so much fun creating this page. I started with TCW801 Skylight 12×12 stencil, I used a pencil to trace and then went over with a white gel pen. I then put some TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint into the Fine Tip Applicator with a little bit of water just enough so that it’s not so thick. Let the doodling begin!!!

I then used the standard tip applicator with some TCW9002 Black Gesso and used it to draw some lines around the heart. For the heart I used TCW825 Love Frame stencil 6×6 with some acrylic paint.

Black gesso and standard tip applicator

I also used the the Black Gesso applicator to go around the title of the page. The stencil I used for this was TCW795 Rustic Signs

Here is a quick video showing how easy it is to these applicators

I have linked the applicators used to the Fineline Applicators website. Thanks for dropping by and I shall be back with more projects soon.

COFFEE – Art Journal Page

Hello Everyone, it’s my turn on the The Crafter’s Workshop blog today with another mixed media art journal page. Here in Australia winter has arrived and I thought I would create a layout that was inspired by “Coffee”- which I am sure most of you would agree is essential for a cold winters day.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

To start my pages I painted TCW9002 Black Gesso with a paint brush over both pages and dried with my heat tool.

Now to build my background…. I mixed TCW9023 Blue Jellybean and TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint together and then used a brayer to apply to both my pages.

I mixed TCW9016 Spun Sugar and TCW9020 Raspberry Sorbet Heavy Body Acrylic Paint together and using the brayer again applied to my pages.

Once I was finished with the colours I then mixed a small amount of water with TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and using a small paint brush, I splattered all over the pages.

I realized afterwards I may have gotten a little carried away with the paint so now I am using a baby wipe with TCW9002 Black Gesso and just dabbing around the edges.

Now for my stencil and I absolutely love this one! I used 6×6 TCW796 Fresh Coffee and stenciled “Fresh Brewed” for the top of my art journal page and “COFFEE” for the bottom of the page. I used a make up sponge and  TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint.

Next I stamped my coffee images using Tim Holtz stamp set Fresh Brewed Blueprint onto some white card and then used Distress Crayons to colour them.

I used one of the stars from  TCW796 Fresh Coffee and my Distress Crayon to add to my ice coffee image.

To finish the pages I adhere all my coffee images using a liquid adhesive. I also added some shading using Black Soot Distress Crayon around the coffee cups.

Thanks for dropping and I look forward in sharing my next project with you soon xx

Memories Made Mixed Media Layout

Hello Everyone!!! Today I am sharing a layout I created for The Crafter’s Workshop and Dusty Attic.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I started by sealing my 12×12 watercolor cardstock with TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium using my 2″ silicone brush and applying TCW9001 White Gesso to the edges of my photo. Once the edges were dry I then used Therm O Web Rebekah Meier Designs Mixed Media Foam Sheets to add dimension to the back of my photo.

Next I used TCW541s Mini Believe Script stencil and TCW9008 Clear Modeling Paste in 3 sections of the cardstock.

Once I dried the stenciled area with my heat tool, I then applied some magical shakers to the background staying in the stenciled area.

Next I used TCW454s Mini Specimens stencil and Distress Oxide ink pad – Black Soot. But because of the all the texture on the cardstock, I decided to change to TCW9015 Black Licorice Heavy Body Acrylic Paint.

For the next step I used TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and TCW456s Mini Sketch Grid. I used a make up sponge to apply the paint to the layout.

Now for the chipboard, I used a swiping motion to apply TCW9001 White Gesso. I used this method because I didn’t want the gesso to go into the grooves of the chipboard. Then I used Magical Shakers – Guten Tag Teal to add color to the chipboard using a paint brush.

For the Geometric Panel chipboard, I painted them with TCW90015 Black Licorice Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and used my heat tool to dry.

And to finish off the layout, I adhered all my pieces using Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue.

Boys will be Boyz Mixed Media Layout

Today I am sharing with you my newest creation for The Crafter’s Workshop. I love creating grungy masculine layouts and I actually got my inspiration from the More than Words Challenge.

So this is what I created – if you want to see the full tutorial please click here to go to The Crafter’s Workshop Blog.

So the brief was to create something that is inspired by the word ” Birthday” and has to have at least 2 tags. This photo of Noah on this 13th birthday last month was perfect – spending time at his favourite place doing what he loves with is best friends.
