Boys will be Boyz Mixed Media Layout

Today I am sharing with you my newest creation for The Crafter’s Workshop. I love creating grungy masculine layouts and I actually got my inspiration from the More than Words Challenge.

So this is what I created – if you want to see the full tutorial please click here to go to The Crafter’s Workshop Blog.

So the brief was to create something that is inspired by the word ” Birthday” and has to have at least 2 tags. This photo of Noah on this 13th birthday last month was perfect – spending time at his favourite place doing what he loves with is best friends.

So Much Goodness Mixed Media Layout

Hi there my fellow crafty lovelies!!! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and start to the new year. Today I am sharing with you all my latest layout using some absolutely stunning chipboard by Dusty Attic.

20180102_105139[1]

I started by applying a light coat of white gesso to my chipboard – Branch #3, Doily #10Decorative Frame #2 and Mini Caption #10 . I then used Prima Color Bloom Sprays in Peony, Storm Cloud and Summer Sky. For the Branches I used Dylusions Mushy Peas spray.

20180102_100718

For the background I have used Maja Designs Sofiero – Strolling down the rose path pp. I have to admit this is the first time I have used their papers and I have fallen in love!!! I started by distressing all the around the edges and inking around the edges with Watering Can Archival Ink. Then I added some stenciling using TCW261s Mini Art Is and Light and Fluffly Modeling paste. I tore the corrugated card into a strip and dried brush with white gesso. Once it was dry I then sprayed Color Bloom Peony and Storm Cloud sprays using a small amount of water help blend the colours.

20180102_100731

I then used a strong glue to adhere my chipboard, 49 and Market flowers and photo mount. I then used a dry brush to add some white gesso to my flowers along with some Prima Color Bloom Summer Sky spray.

To finish off the layout I mixed some gel medium with some green prills and crystal ice cubes and applied around my flowers.

Merry Christmas Art Journal Page

Hello and Happy Monday!!! Today I am sharing an art journal page I created using some very yummy The Crafter’s Workshop products. If you would like to see how I created this art journal page, there is a process video at the end of the blog.

main

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I had so much fun creating this and got to use products from our preferred partners Thermoweb that I would have never thought of using. I have now found a new addiction!!! lol  So let’s get started!!!

background

I started by brushing Distress Oxide Inks – Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean & Broken China directly onto my pages in a swiping motion. Then sprayed with some water. Then I added some Black Soot using the same technique and again spritz with some water.

bg2

Next I sprayed Distress Stain Spray – Faded Jeans all over the pages and used my heat tool to dry.

splatter

Next I placed some TCW9012 Shimmery Goodness onto my craft mat and added some water so that I could splatter the background using a small paint brush.

big wreath

Once that was dry, I then used TCW721 Big Wreath stencil along with TCW9024 Kale Smoothie Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and Dylusions Paints Dirty Martini and Fresh Lime for my leaves.

light and fluffy

Next I used TCW717s Ornaments stencil (my favourite Christmas stencil by the way) with TCW9004 Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste. I used this paste because I wanted to add dimension to my page for the step.

deco foil adhesive

After I dried the paste with my heat tool, I then used iCraft Deco Foil Liquid Adhesive on sections of my baubles. You need to allow this to dry for about an hour. I did however use my heat tool to speed the process up a little.

foil

I have found a new obsession here…..Transfer Foil!!! I have never used this before and by gosh it is AMAZING!!!! So I used Thermoweb Rebekah Meier Mixed Media Transfer Foils in New Penny, Antique Pearl, Patina and Old Gold. I also used Thermoweb Gina K Designs Fancy Foil – Turquoise Sea

modeling paste

Next I used the TCW719s Christmas Tree with TCW9009 Black Modeling Paste to stencil Merry Christmas onto my page. I also used a Uni Chalk Marker in white to draw the string for my baubles.

distress crayon

I wanted to add a little bit more to my baubles so here I am using some Distress Crayons – Tarnished Brass, Antiqued Bronze and Brushed Pewter and I’m just using my finger to rub it in. I have also used Dina Wakley’s Scribble Sticks – Black to add some shadowing around my baubles and blended it with a wet paint brush.

The last step I decided to add some sparkle to my leaves so I painted some Kindy Glitz – Crystalina. I used a paint brush because I only wanted a light sparkle.

Mixed Media Pencil Case

Hey Everyone!! Today I’m sharing with you a canvas pencil case I decided needed a little makeover. I’m sure you all have something in your craftroom that is a little on the boring side whether it is plain or the colour is bland. Well why not give it a makeover using some pretty amazing TCW stencils?

Well with that said, let me show you my process in giving my pencil case a new life!!!

20171031_121807

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

To start off I applied a coat of TCW9007 Clear Gesso….why you ask? I found that if the material wasn’t sealed then the paint will be absorbed and your colour will be quite bland. You don’t need a lot, just enough to cover the whole area and then use a heat gun to dry it.

20171031_111013

Once it was dry, I then applied my background colour. I used Dylusions Paints Lemon Zest, Pure Sunshine, Fresh Lime, White Linen, Vibrant Turquoise and Funky Fuchsia. I started off applying the paint with a dry paint brush but then decided to use my fingers (I find this gives me more control over the paint). I just layered the paint until I was happy with finish effect. And I dried in between colours.

20171031_11231120171031_112849  20171031_113330

Now for the stenciling – I used 3 of the 6×6 stencils along with TCW’s Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and a make up sponge. So I started with TCW754s – Distressed Details with TCW9016 Spun Sugar and TCW9015 Black Licorice.

20171031_113848

The next stencil I used is TCW739s – Trendy Images along with a mixture of TCW9016 Spun Sugar and TCW9022 Grape Jelly.

20171031_114116

The last stencil I used is TCW 751s – Kitchen Tiles and I used TCW9016 Spun Sugar and TCW9023 Blue Jellybean to create a light blue colour.

20171031_114253

To finish off the pencil case I used my Uni Posca Paint pens in Black, White, Light Blue, Pink and Yellow to highlight some of the stencils and then applied a light coat of TCW9007 Clear Gesso to seal it all.

Thanks for dropping by and hopefully I have inspired you to give your blah pencil cases, bags or aprons a makeover!!! xx

Enjoy the little things – Art Journal Page

Hello Everyone!! Today I am sharing with you another project I created using this month’s product partner, Altered Pages and a TCW stencil. If you would like to check out more digital prints you can head on over to Jean’s website at www.alteredpages.com

So let step you through my process in creating this art journal page….I absolutely love this image called Cinco de Mayo

cover

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

20171010_125051

I started off by placing some scrap paper underneath sections of TCW749s Floating City stencil where I didn’t want my paste to go. Because my art journal is 8×8 inches I had to stencil twice. I used washi tape to keep my scraps of paper from moving. I used a palette knife to spread on my Colour Blast Australia Stormy Weather Paste and used a heat gun to dry.

20171010_130851

Next I used Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks to add colour to my sky and the buildings. For the sky I sprayed some water onto my tray and drew the sticks in the water to create a watercolour consistency and applied with a small paint brush.

20171010_132301

For the Buildings I drew the scribble sticks directly onto my buildings and used a wet paint brush to blend the colours. I also used Lindy’s Stamp Gang Sprays – Steampunk Sepia and Rusty Lantern Lime. I also applied the sprays with a small paint brush.

20171010_132956

Once I was happy with the buildings, I then moved onto the water. For this I applied Lindy’s Stamp Gang spray Sassy Sapphire, 13arts Chalk Ultramarine and Chalk Indigo sprays using water and a paintbrush.

20171010_133124

I wanted to add a little bit of a shimmer to my water so I used a dry paint brush to tap some Colour Blast Shimmer Dust Peacock onto my page and activated it with water.

20171010_133143

To finish off my canal, I tapped some scrap paper to my Floating City stencil  (just to make sure I didn’t get any paint where is shouldn’t go) and used TCW9021 Blueberry Pie Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and a sponge to dab my waves. I did this technique several times until I was happy.

20171010_135411

Now for my gorgeous Cuban princess!!! I printed her onto normal A4 computer paper and after fussy cutting her, I then adhered her to a thicker card using Grafix Artist-tac adhesive sheets and then added some foam tape before adding her to my page.

20171010_133444

To finish off my page I stamped a quote using Dina Wakley’s Gal Quotes and black archival ink. I cut the quote out into individual strips and adhered to my page.

LOVE art journal page for The Crafter’s Workshop

Hello my peeps!!! How lucky am I to be able to share with you one of my favourite art journal pages on my birthday?!! I couldn’t think of a better time to be sharing the “LOVE”!!!

farrel-tailor-love-art-journal-page

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own. Click here to see what the other amazing team have created.

farrel-tailor-matte-gel-medium

I started my background by tearing a page from a dictionary and adhering it using TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium. Once I gave it a quick dry with my heat gun, I then started applying my acrylic paint. I used my fingers to apply the paint as I love the effect you get and I love getting my hands messy lol. So I started from light to dark – Fluro Yellow, Fluro Green, Fluro Orange, Fluro Pink and last of all Fluro Purple.

farrel-tailor-acrylic-paint-background

Next I used TCW737s Love Sonnet stencil and not using the whole stencil, I applied TCW9023 Blue Jellybean Heavy Body Acrylic paint using a make up blending sponge.

farrel-tailor-lovesonnet-stencil

Once that was dry, I then applied TCW9022 Grape Jelly acrylic paint through the circles of TCW754 Distressed Details. Using the same stencil, I then used the mesh pattern and TCW9016 Spun Sugar acrylic paint on both pages. On the left page I did however flip the stencil over and sponged the reverse side with paint.

farrel-tailor-distressed-details-stencil

I added a scribble circle stamp and cross stamp from VivaLasVegaStamps Plate 1495 and used Versafine Black Onyx and added some doodling around the stamped images using paint pens.

Next using TCW9015 Black Licorice acrylic paint and TCW527 Word Association, I sponged the word “LOVE” and also the stars on the bottom left hand page and top right hand page. Then to finish it off I put the stencil back over the stars and used a yellow paint pen to trace around the stars and I also used a pink paint pen to highlight “LOVE”.
