Hanging Out Layout – Dusty Attic

Hey there everyone, today I am up on the Dusty Attic blog with a layout I created of my 3 boys playing video games. As a mumma to a 15yr old boy, I find it very difficult to capture any photos of my oldest and the only way I can get it is if he doesn’t know I’m taking photos sooooo I was in stealth mode when I captured this photo. And extra bonus…. all the boys are together.

The background cardstock is from 7 Dots Studio – Paint Chips range and stamped randomly using Tim Holtz Reflections stamp set and black archival ink.

I used PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint in Inky Pool to colour the stars and title chipboard. I inked the edges with black archival ink and then used watered down white and black gesso to splatter all over. I also used Lindy’s Magical Shakers to colour some white cardstock, I stamped randomly and then adhere to the back of the stars.

I painted the Broken Bits Number pieces with white gesso and then sanded the edges. I also painted the back of my light bulb with some gold paint. For the underground network large chipboard, I trimmed it down and painted with black gesso. I then used Liquid Pearls to create the look of a circuit board as the photo is all about gaming.

Altered Coffin for Dusty Attic

Happy Halloween Everyone!!! Today I am sharing my Altered Coffin for Dusty Attic. I’m not sure about you, but when I get an idea in my head I need to get it to paper asap otherwise it does my head in lol. So I got my amazing husband to cut for me from MDF board, I have wanted to do a project like this for a few years now and I am so happy with how it turned out.

Altered Coffin by Farrel Tailor

To start with I applied white gesso to the board and then added my stenciling using Stamperia crackle paste. I then added some stamping to the background using black archival ink.

I applied gesso to all my chipboard pieces and adhered them to the board. I used stone effect paste on the skull to give some texture.

I painted the whole board using Prima Liquid Acrylic paint and once dry I then applied Deco Art Antiquing Cream in Raw Umber. Then used a baby wipe to pull some of the colour back. I then used Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Shakers in Black Forest Black to highlight areas.

To finish off the board I added some stamping to the Spider and bat

Be Awesome Today – LSG June Challenge

Hi there everyone!!! Today I am sharing my take on the Lindy’s Stamp Gang June 2019 Challenge. This is my first time doing their challenge and I loved every minute creating my mini disc. I just adore this colour combo! If you would like to join in this month, click here to go to their blog.

For my background, I applied some TCW9001 white gesso to a chipboard disc along with some stamping, I used a Tim Holtz stamp and stencil set with black Versafine. I then added some crackle medium through TCW790 Micro Bricks stencil.

LSG June Monthly Challenge

I then started building my background colour. I started off with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Squirts – Emerald Eh? Once it was dry I then applied Starburst Squirts – Loonie Toonie Teal.

LSG monthly challenge

I added Art Alchemy Wax – Firebird onto the stenciled area but thought it needed a little bit more orange so I mixed white gesso, water and Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Shaker – Oktoberfest Orange and splattered onto the disc.

I also used Tim Holtz paper dolls, small talk sticker sheets and vintage design tape.

Thanks for dropping by and make sure you click on the process video below… I apologise for the 2 light discs on my table xx

Christmas Card and Tag – The Crafter’s Workshop

Hi there my lovelies!!!! Today I am sharing with you all a mixed media Christmas card and tag I created for The Crafter’s Workshop. For those who know me, I am not a card maker but thought it might be nice for me do something a little different.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I will start my tutorial off with the card. I used a 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 inch card as the base and applied my Emboss It Dabber to TCW720 Snowflakes 6×6 stencil. Then used white embossing powder to cover the whole area and heat set with my heat gun.

Then I sprayed 13arts Ayeeda Mist Chalk light blue and Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Delphinium Turquoise spray all over the card.

Next I used a separate piece of cardstock and applied TCW9049 Tacky When Dry Gel Medium through TCW717 Ornaments 6×6 stencil. I used my heat gun to make the drying process faster then rubbed some mixed media transfer foil over the top.

I then cut out the ornaments and used foam tape to mount them onto the card. I also adhered some ribbon to the top and used a sticker for my sentiment. To finish off the card, I used Couture Creations Glitzin’ Glamour in Antique Silver.

Now for the tag, I used a precut tag in white and smooshed Distress Inks Broken China and Stormy Sky all over the tag. Then did the same again but with Distress Oxides Ink Weathered Wood.

Once the inks had dried, I then used  TCW720 Snowflakes 6×6 stencil and applied TCW9026 Champagne Gold modeling paste. I used my heat gun to dry the paste, letting it bubble a little.

I used some stamps, snowflake punches, glitter and rhinestones to add some texture. To colour the stamped image, I used the Distress Inks Stormy Sky and Weathered Wood to make a grey/green colour and applied with an aqua pen.

Thanks for dropping by and I will back again soon with my next project xx

Fright Night Halloween Layout

Hello everyone!!! Today I am up on the Dusty Attic Blog another Halloween project but this time it’s a layout. I had so much fun creating this layout, it was nice do something a little spooky!!!

Fright Night Halloween layout

For the base cardstock I have used one of the sheets from 49 and Market Rusty Autumn Collection. This purple was perfect for what I wanted to do. I stamped the cracks stamp with black archival ink and added some Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint in Metallique Fresh Orange.

I added white gesso around the edges of the photo and my chipboard pieces – Web Flourish and the small web from Spiders and Web set and adhered them to the layout.

Dusty Attic Fright Night layout

I applied black gesso to the smaller skeleton from the Skeletons pack and then lightly rubbed some Art Alchemy wax in the Brushed Iron. I also used this wax on the Web Flourish.

For the Page Pebbles #14 and Wordpl@y #6 I lightly painted the Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint in Metallique Fresh Orange and then covered the chipboard with black archival ink making sure I used a swiping motion so that the ink didn’t go into the grooves of the chipboard.

Spider close up Halloween layout

For my Redback Spider  I used the smaller spider from the Spiders set. I painted it with black gesso and used a red acrylic paint for the red line.  I also did the same for the smaller spider up on the top left hand corner using Spiders and Web set.

Dusty Attic Fright Night skeleton

For the chain I painted with black gesso and then applied Art Alchemy Waxes in Rich Copper, Bronze Age and Aged Brass. To finish off the layout I also added some stamping around the edges of the patterned paper using Kaisercraft Film Edges clear stamp set.
